Peace

What I focus on, I give power to. “What will a life magnify? The world’s stress cracks, the grubbiness of a day, that is wholly and terribly busted? Or God?” (Voskamp, 59). #NameyourDay

‘Today,’ I name you PEACE – the One whose Beauty is past change, who calms the storm says to my restless heart, says to my restless soul, says to my restless world, “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth” (Psalm 46:10).

What I behold, I become.

What I’m beholding, I’m becoming.

What I’ve beheld, I’ve become.

What are you beholding today? The problems and the inevitable fear and anxiety that will grip your heart? Or the possibilities and promises that empower a God who is bigger than my biggest problem? The possibilities and promises that invite His grace into the moment, invite His glory into the moment, invite Heaven to invade earth. When we tell the storms how big our God is, when we begin to speak to life’s storms through our worship, when we choose a ‘heart-i-tude’ of gratitude for even the most mundane things, God’s promises – not the problems – begin to define our lives. “When I make a conscious decision to see blessings instead of curses, my internal reactions are not determined by external forces” (Emmons, 18, paraphrase). Never underestimate the power of pied beauty perspective. Never underestimate the power of a moment of beholding the Beauty of the One whose beauty is past change.

What will your life magnify today?
